I am a woman focused photographer and empowerment artist. What I love most about what I do is how I make my clients feel: seen, celebrated and empowered in their authenticity at every stage of life.
I see you, you are beautiful just the way you are.
The thought of a boudoir season can be scary. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So, I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on how to prepare for a boudoir session with me:)
The short answer~only with permission! My number one priority is making sure that my clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir photography. Sometimes, you may be learning how to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share those images with the world, or your job is VERY professional and you need to keep your private world private. or perhaps these photos are your spouses eyes only. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos, it really depends on your personal comfort level and preference. Any photos that I share with my audiences have been given permission to do so by the client. And, I have a feeling you are going to love these so much, you will want to share them with others and your story of empowerment as well!
There are soooo many ways to dress for a boudoir shoot. We can do traditional boudoir with lingerie or partial nudes to more conservative ideas like a revealing dress, off the shoulder sweater with panty or your husband’s collared shirt~the options are endless!
There is a session fee due at the time of booking to reserve your session date. Some people opt to pay the session fee and then decide and pay for a collection of images at the reveal/ordering appointment. Other ladies like to prepay for an album or a collection in the months leading up to their session so everything is taken care of in advance. Either way, you have lots of options!
Professional hair and makeup artistry is included in all of my boudoir sessions. It is so important for you to feel pampered, cared for, confident and at your best the day of the session and this is the perfect way for your experience to begin. Our hair and makeup artist can help you complete your look whether it’s simple and natural or full-on glam.
At your reveal session you will see all of your images straight out of the camera, adjusted only for exposure. At the end of your ordering appointment one of the things that we discuss is retouching. Most women choose to have their images retouched with a little skin smoothing, removing blemishes etc. If there is a particular image that needs more work, we discuss that and additional edits can be made. The point is that retouching is custom and we can do very little or more depending on how natural you want your photos to look. I personally love it when my clients LOVE their images straight out of the camera and we do light post session edits for that polished professional look.
When clients book a custom session with me, we set up a Style and Concept consultation to discuss what to wear and what would look best on their body type. The first place that I tell my clients to go to for outfits is their own intimate drawer and closet. Let me tell you what this might look like: We could pull an old evening dress from the closet with a slit up the leg for a sexy beauty shot start to your session. Then, pull your husband’s favorite sports jersey or button down shirt to integrate into your shoot. Go into your intimate drawer and pull a silk robe for a sexy strip tease series and perhaps you own a nice bra and panty set or some choice langierie to add to your shoot as well. Want to do some partial or full nudes during your session? Great, that’s a whole other look and we don’t even need an outfit:) The sky is the limit. Now, if you want to make an investment in new pieces for your session, I love supporting local women in business. I have had many clients love the full service and care they receive at L’ivresse Lingerie in Essex, Vermont. Nicolette has many beautiful pieces and will help you shop for pieces that flatter your figure and she will treat you with love and care.
Eeeek writing about my products gets me so excited, for they are beautiful and made to be cherished for a lifetime. I offer a variety of print products with your digital images. Beautiful linen folios to hold your archival matted prints, albums wrapped in japanese silk and custom wall art.
All of my sessions include digital images. They are delivered in a private, password protected online gallery.
The answer to this question largely depends on the kind of session that you choose to book with me. At a mini marathon I suggest 3, while at a custom or premium session I recommend 5-7 outfits for even more variety.
You should plan to arrive at your session 10 minutes early, that way if something comes up on your way to the shoot you will have a 10 minute buffer to arrive on time. Your session begins promptly on time.
My studio is located in the beautiful northern mountains of Montgomery Center, Vermont and is oftentimes referred to as God’s Country. My clients love this location for its quiet beauty, especially when they book a boudoir in the wild session.
